Mendlesham Charities are for the benefit of Mendlesham residents only

Mendlesham Educational Foundation

Established by the will of Henry Jessop in 1516, and consists of a body of trustees administering various charitable funds. The trustees’ duties are under obligation set out in a scheme updated in 1983, i.e. they are answerable to the Charity Commissioners.

The Charities assets are invested in a wide portfolio of bonds, trusts, charity fixed interest and deposit accounts. The trust also owns land and property including the Old School Room which is administered as a public amenity.

Income from the assets is used in accordance with the scheme to benefit students under 25 years for educational needs. Students in further education at college or university, grants to the Primary School to enhance teaching arrangements, and payments to various youth groups in the village are currently beneficiaries.
